Founded in 2015 in Büllingen in East Belgium, today with our own cutting plant in the Eifel and our own assembly teams: X-Wood® designs, manufactures and builds timber halls — from the first sketch to the last beam.
X-Wood® was founded in 2015 by CEO and founder Michael Schumacher, from Büllingen in East Belgium. Even as a child he was fascinated by timber, and he gained hands-on experience in carpentry early on.
The first timber hall was built in 2016 for the Weidmann family at the Fitness-Treff in Orscholz. After an initial period supported by outside partners, the first assembly staff were taken on in 2017 — the beginning of a company that has designed, cut and assembled its halls itself ever since.

Founder and managing director
What began in 2015 as a one-man business is today a company with its own design office, its own production and its own assembly teams. It grew not through advertising but through halls that were each bigger and more demanding than the one before.
Staying family-run was not a stopgap but a decision. Anyone who commissions a hall from us speaks to the same people who will later design it, make it and put it up.
Milestones
Nine stages showing how a start-up in East Belgium became a timber hall builder with a manufacturing plant of its own.
2015 — Founded in Büllingen
Michael Schumacher founds X-Wood® in Büllingen, East Belgium. His enthusiasm for timber and his first experience in carpentry go back to his childhood.
2016 — The first timber hall
The first hall is built for the Weidmann family at the Fitness-Treff in Orscholz — still with outside partners supporting the assembly.
2017 — Our own assembly team
The first assembly staff are taken on. Since then X-Wood® assembles its halls itself rather than subcontracting the work.
A 3,200 m² industrial hall for EMZ
In Merlscheid an industrial hall of 3,200 m² goes up — the first building on a scale that would otherwise be tendered in steel as a matter of course.
Two overhead cranes on timber columns
For CFM Schiller's production hall in Roetgen, two overhead cranes with a 40-tonne capacity are installed on timber columns — proof that timber carries even where the loads move.
2020 — Shortlisted for the Holzbaupreis Eifel
X-Wood® is nominated for the Eifel regional timber construction award. The Holzbaupreis NRW follows in 2022.
14,000 m² for DHG in Wachtendonk
The largest hall to date: a storage and logistics building of 14,000 m² for DHG Vertriebs- und Consulting GmbH.
2021 — Our own production in Kall
With its own production hall in the Eifel town of Kall, a long-held plan comes good: cutting and prefabrication have been in-house ever since.
2025 — Ten years of X-Wood®
Ten years after the founding: 141,564 m² of hall space across six countries — designed, manufactured and assembled in-house.
The largest hall to date

X-Wood® today
Rather than relying on standardised solutions or cheap materials, we specialise in bespoke timber buildings that convince through efficiency and individual design. From stables to storage halls to an industrial building with a crane runway, every hall is calculated for its purpose.
Building halls is our passion – a demanding field that calls for sound knowledge and experience. From the first design to the final handover, our qualified staff are there for you.
How we work
How those four points turn into a finished hall is set out on How we work.
Engineering, construction and detailing all happen in-house — matched to the use, the span and the site of your hall.
The cutting runs in our own plant in Kall. We do not buy in components whose tolerances we do not know.
Since 2017 our own assembly teams have put the halls up. Whoever stands on your site wears our logo.
One point of contact from the first sketch to handover — not a project office that changes once the contract is signed.

X-CAM® Kall

Our own production grew into a second business.
In 2021 X-Wood® realised its dream of a production hall of its own in the Eifel town of Kall. Out of that production a second business grew: X-Cam GmbH.
Alongside manufacturing the X-Wood® halls, X-CAM® works as a cutting centre for carpentry and timber construction firms — with its own clients, its own address in Kall and its own website.
Components up to 32 metres long.

A company in its own right
X-CAM® is not only X-Wood®'s state-of-the-art production site but also an independent provider of precision contract cutting for modern timber construction. On 6,700 m² of production space it makes high-quality timber kits, mainly for carpentry firms.
For you as the client that means two things: your hall is made in a plant that has to hold its own on the open market every day — and the manufacturing stays inside the company. Between the design and the site there is no outside supplier whose dates and tolerances we cannot control.

High-tech cutting
With the Hundegger K2 Industry, the best-selling cutting machine of 2020, there are next to no limits on machine timber processing. Components up to 32 m long, 1,300 mm wide and 450 mm deep present no difficulty.
Complex structures with drillings, millings, slots and saw cuts from every side are equally possible — thanks to the direct CAD/CAM link from the digital design to the finished component, with no manual step in between.
Would you like to see where your hall is made? Then let us talk about your project — and come and look round the plant in Kall.

The team
As a family business we set great store by a personal relationship of trust with our clients. Our committed team works every day to live our core values: the highest quality, sustainability and absolute reliability.
From the management through project management and administration to the assembly team — on the team page everyone is listed by name, role and direct line.

Working at X-Wood®
A company that designs, cuts and assembles its own buildings needs people in every one of those roles — carpenters and fitters, technicians and designers, planning and administration.
What we offer in return is what this page describes: short lines, our own technology and projects you will later recognise from the road. A speculative application is welcome too, even when no suitable position is currently advertised.
